One day, Tiger and Lion were having an argument at the plains. “I am the best fighter!” said Lion. “You may be a great fighter but I am a great thinker!” said Tiger. Later into the night, Cheetah came around. “Now what are you two arguing about?” Cheetah asked. “He thinks he is the best fighter-” “I am the best fighter.” Lion interrupted. “But I think I can get a better catch!” Tiger said. “Okay there is only one way to settle this. At dawn you two will each pick a catch. Only one. You will try to kill the catch. Best catch wins!” said Cheetah. They both agreed and shook paws.
At dawn both Tiger and Lion were in the same place as last night. Luckily, there was a bunch of gazelle in the plains. “Pick your catch.” said Cheetah. “I chose-” “The big fat one! I need breakfast!” finished Lion. “I chose the small sick one.” said Tiger. “Go!” said Cheetah. Lion ran straight for the biggest one, and attacked. By the time Lion got tired of running after the gazelle, Tiger had already won. “And Tiger is the winner!” said Cheetah. “Yay!” yelled Tiger. “How did you do it?” Lion ran toward Tiger. “Big gazelles are hard. Babies and sick ones, they are the easy ones!”
Moral: Sometimes you can’t go straight for the big things.
